KNUPATH began its life as the silicon development arm of KnuEdge, a technology leader in voice recognition, neural networks, machine learning and high performance computing. Our leadership team brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise from a variety of industries and organizations, including leaders in semiconductor research and fabrication. The hundreds of years of practical experience that our team possess enables KNUPATH to not only understand today’s biggest technical problems, but also solve them, in the most elegant ways possible.
Chairman, President & CEO
After an illustrious career leading large government and industry organizations, Dan Goldin finds great satisfaction in running his own company. Prior to founding KnuEdge, Dan was the longest tenured NASA Chief, serving across three presidential administrations and leading the agency through its renaissance. His accomplishments read like a Harvard Business Review case study in successful execution: For instance, as NASA Chief he guided the redesign and delivered the International Space Station, initiated bold robotic exploration of Mars, formed the Astrobiology Institute to better understand the origin, evolution and destiny of life in the universe, and without incident put a record number of people into space, all while reducing the agency’s planned budget by 33%.
In founding KnuEdge, Dan decided to focus on neuro-biologically-based technology, and joined the Neurosciences Institute in San Diego as a Senior Fellow, to learn Neuroscientific principles from Nobel Prize winner Dr. Gerald Edelman. He then organized a group of private investors who were willing to engage in a long technology development phase that would enable truly “swing for the fences” breakthrough innovations.
VP of Engineering
Raghuram Tupuri joined KNUPATH to lead the engineering team that is applying the principles of neurobiology to the next generation of silicon solutions. Prior, he had spent over 20 years successfully driving silicon design at AMD as both a designer and then part of their executive management team. Not only does Raghuram have a PhD in computer engineering but he was also an adjunct faculty member; his undergraduate work was done at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
Director of Software
Bala Kumar joined KNUPATH bringing his 25 year experience in developing and managing software in the semiconductor industry. He built, mentored and managed a multi-site global software team at Freescale for Multimedia and Cellular divisions. He oversaw the software that went into products such as Amazon Kindle, Ford Sync, and Motorola phones. More recently he managed the heterogeneous systems software team at AMD to harness the power of acceleration in the Radeon GPUs. Bala received his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. His passion outside of work is teaching Robotics and other STEM topics at Title 1 Elementary schools.
